Students at Butler High School were stunned to learn one of their classmates, a 17-year-old girl, died Friday morning during what appeared to be a slip-and-fall accident in the bathroom at her home while she was preparing to go to school.

“We were deeply saddened to learn that a student at the Butler Area School District had a tragic accident this morning,” Superintendent Brian White said in a statement. “On behalf of the Butler Area school community, we extend our deepest sympathy to the student's family and friends at this difficult time.”
