BlueSox help humane society

Team runs Buck- A-Hit campaign

The Butler BlueSox have announced the Butler County Humane Society will benefit from its Buck-A-Hit campaign this season.

For every BlueSox hit during the 60-game season, the team as well as pledging local businesses and individuals will donate $1 to the humane society. The team’s 10th season opens May 31.

Over the past five years, the campaign has donated more than $17,000 to local nonprofits. The team averages between 500 and 600 hits each summer.

The humane society, in association with the Helen Spaide Albig Adoption Center, provides a temporary, no-kill shelter for homeless, adoptable dogs and cats.

To join the campaign, businesses can register by emailing FrontOffice@ButlerBlueSox.net or calling 724-256-9994.

At the end of the season, the BlueSox will mail a letter to each pledging business with information on how to make their donation directly to the humane society.

Past beneficiaries of the Buck-A-Hit campaign include the Community Health Clinic, 2012; YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, 2013; Caring Angels, 2014; Ellen O’Brien Gaiser Addiction Center, 2016; and Rotary Club of Butler A.M.’s Kid’s Weekend Backpack program, 2017.
