Woman rescued after 100 foot fall

A young woman from New York has been rescued after she fell 100 feet off a trail near Breakneck Falls at McConnells Mill State Park.

A young woman from New York has been rescued after she fell 100 feet off a trail near Breakneck Falls at McConnells Mill State Park in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, authorities said.

The woman suffered unknown injuries and is being flown by helicopter to an unknown hospital.

When Butler Eagle initially spoke to park ranger Brian Flores he said, “It's definitely a 100-foot drop but I don't know if that's how far she fell.

“But that's how far it is from the road to where she was (found).”

Flores said she “tumbled and hit here head a couple times.”

The woman was conscious but was unable to move, park officials said.

Portersville EMS and the Slippery Rock Township Volunteer Fire Department were at the scene assisting rangers.

Flores said the woman was not on the main trail off Breakneck Bridge when she fell.

Authorities are stopping anyone from going down the road to Breakneck Bridge.

A full story will appear in the Butler Eagle.
