2 accidents snarl traffic on I-79
Two accidents occurred less than a mile apart Thursday morning on Interstate 79.
The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident just after 7 a.m. at mile marker 83 near the Evans City exit.
One vehicle was seen sitting sideways on an embankment with damage to the front and side.
Officers were seen talking to individuals as they awaited response from additional units.
That scene was cleared just after 8 a.m., with a second accident being reported at 8:03 a.m. near mile marker 82.
Two vehicles were involved, and sustained damage to the front and rear, respectively.
Traffic was slowed for about a mile in the lead up to the scene, which was being investigated by state police.
