SR softball rolls to 12-1 triumph

Slippery Rock wasted no time jumping on Harbor Creek in Wednesday's District 10 Class 4A softball quarterfinal.

The Rockets plated five runs in the bottom of the first inning of a 12-1, five-inning victory.

Macy McCall went 4-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and one batted in. Cheyenne Hindman had three hits with two RBI and Hannah Wilson tripled, scored twice and had two RBI.

Hindman was the winning pitcher, striking out eight and walking one.

Slippery Rock (16-4) will face rival Grove City in a semifinal on Thursday.

District 9 Playoffs — Moniteau bowed from the Class 2A tournament with an 8-1 quarterfinal loss at top-seeded Cranberry.

A-C Valley advanced to the Class 1A semifinals with a 10-2 upset of second-seeded Smethport.

The Falcons will face Coudersport in a semifinal on Friday.

No details of either game were available.
