Maridon Museum, 322 N. McKean St., is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, except holidays. Museum admission is $4 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and students, and free for children younger than 8 accompanied by an adult. Butler County Historical Society will have a dinner and program at 5:30 p.m. June 7 at Tanglewood Center, 10 Austin Ave, Lyndora. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. followed by the program for the evening, “Fire on the Water.” James Gindelsperger of Johnstown will talk about the Confederate raider Alabama, which sank more than 60 Union merchant ships before it was sunk in an epic naval battle with the Kearsarge off the coast of France in 1864. Harmony Museum, 218 Mercer St., Harmony, has tours that include the 1809 main museum building and wine cellar and a neighboring early 19th century house, both built by the communal Harmony Society, and a Mennonite log house, offered from 1 to 4 p.m. daily, except when the museum is closed Mondays and major holidays. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for senior citizens age 60 and older, and $3 for youths ages 6 to 17. Call 724-452-7341.

PITTSBURGH

Carnegie Science Center on the North Side, will host a Submarine Memorial on the USS Requin at 10 a.m. Sunday. The event is free, and admission to the submarine is free all day. Call 412-237-3400 or visit CarnegieScienceCenter.org.

Fort Pitt Museum in Point State Park, part of the Smithsonian-affiliated Senator John Heinz History Center museum system, will be the site of a free Family Fishing Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Costumed interpreters with 18th century fishing equipment will demonstrate how Fort Pitt soldiers fished at the Point more than 250 years ago. Point State Park staff will also provide modern fishing equipment and tips on contemporary fishing during this event held in the amphitheater along the Monongahela Wharf. National Aviary, 700 Arch St., begins summer programming on Saturday including a new Butterfly Garden and “Soar!” with falcons, vultures and black kites on the Sky Deck. The Aviary is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aviary admission is $15 for adults and $14 for senior citizens age 60 and older and children ages 2 to 12. Some activities cost extra. Children’s Museum, 10 Children’s Way, Allegheny Square, has opened “Thomas & Friends: Explore the Rails.” “The Pigeon Comes to Pittsburgh: A Mo Willems Exhibit” continues through Sept. 2. The museum will be closed Monday for Memorial Day. Regular museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except holidays.
