Swimming Pools
Memorial Day is the traditional opening day for swimming pools in Butler County.
However, this year, some pools are opening ahead of the holiday weekend and one isn't opening at all.
The closure of the Zelienople/Harmony Community Pool for renovations this summer will have a ripple effect at EDCO Park Pool in Evans City, according to EDCO manager Cindy Caldwell.
She said a few pool dates will be taken up with swim meets of the Zelienople Area Swim Club, which will be using the EDCO Park pool as home base this summer.
Caldwell said other changes this summer include three free swim days — June 10, July 11 and Aug. 4 — sponsored by local businesses
“Check the website (www.edco.park.com) for other events and details,” she said.
“We open the pool at 3 p.m. Friday, and then we will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
“The weather is supposed to be 85 this weekend, and the water is warming up. We are so ready to start. The water's beautiful so come on over,” said Caldwell.
