Revitalized Zelienople

The reopening of the historic Kaufman House in Zelienople is scheduled for this fall.

Visitors to Zelienople this summer will find a revitalized downtown brimming with local shops and events to keep even the most frenetic tourists on their toes.

The borough’s revitalization efforts have been ongoing for over a year and include new parking and sidewalks downtown, the repair and return of the town clock and the renovation and reopening of the historic Kaufman House, which is planned for this fall.

In addition to the infrastructure upgrades, visitors can patronize any or all of the nine local restaurants and 37 shops in Zelienople, with more being added every year.

Zelienople is filled with unique attractions and oddities for tourists to enjoy, from taking a tour at the historic Passavant House to getting a drink at the iconic Lion Water Fountain at the corner of Grandview Avenue and Perry Highway.

Residents and tourists alike may also want to take advantage of the borough’s many summer events.

One of the biggest of these is the annual Horse Trading Days.

Begun in 1963 as a sales promotion and horse show, this year’s event will be the 55th year Horse Trading Days will be held in the borough.

It is scheduled July 20 and 21 and will feature everything from a 5K and cornhole tournament to the Horse Trader Pageant and parade.

Parking lots are easily accessible on Main Street, West New Castle Street and West Spring Street On-street parking is also available throughout the borough.
