Driver seriously injured when truck overturns onto Camaro

Four people -- including two children -- were injured this morning when a tanker trunk overturned on a Camaro at Route 8 and Dinnerbell Road in Penn Township.

The driver of the car, Kevin Koontz, 46, of Mars, suffered moderate to serious injuries. He was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.

The man’s two young daughters were in the car but escaped with only minor injuries.

The truck driver, Shawn Kepple, 30, of Manorville, Armstrong County, also suffered minor injuries.

Police said Kepple was northbound and turning right onto Dinnberbell Road shortly after 11 a.m. when he lost control of his truck.

The car was apparently stopped at the traffic light, westbound on Dinnerbell Road.

Police said Kepple caused the crash and they are looking at possible speed, mechanical failure and driver error as possible factors.
