Man arrested for running naked down North Main Street

Rastis Marcy of Butler Township, charged with open lewdness in Butler.

Butler police Tuesday arrested a man for momentarily running naked down North Main Street in broad daylight.

Rastis O. Marcy, 40, of Butler Township was arraigned on charges of open lewdness and disorderly conduct. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,000 bail and on a probation detainer.

Police said Sgt. Dave Villotti was on patrol about 11:30 a.m. when several people flagged him down. They reported seeing a man walking and then running without pants — or other clothing — on the 100 block of North Main Street, according to court documents.

Before the man removed his red shorts, police said, the witnesses told Villotti they saw him arguing with a woman. Moments later, he took off on the crowded sidewalk.

Police noted that while the defendant was briefly exposed, there were “multiple women and children who viewed the incident,”documents said.

Villotti said that shortly before he got there, Marcy had put his shorts back on.

Marcy's preliminary hearing is set for May 21.
