SR fares well at Mercer meet

Both Slippery Rock track and field teams turned in great efforts at Thursday's Mercer County Meet in Grove City.

Anna Kadlubek continued her super freshman season by winning the 100-meter dash (12.59 seconds) and 200 (26.0).

Emma McDermott also won for the Rocket girls, going 35 feet, 1½ inch in the triple jump.

Sean Northcott placed first in the boys javelin with a heave of 162 feet.

The 4x100 relay team of Chase Wolinski, Nathan Hyatt, Pat Shea and Ryan Putorti placed third with a school-record time of 44.23.

Following are the Slippery Rock athletes who placed in the top six at the event.

Boys

3,200 relay: 4-Slippery Rock (Vito Pelosi, Eithan Beckwith, Chad Green, Kristian Sosa) 9:07; 100 dash: 6-Nathan Hyatt 11.51; 1,600 run: 3-Kristian Sosa 4:48.96; 400 run: 6-Chase Wolinski 54.06; 400 relay: 3-Slippery Rock (Chase Wolinski, Nathan Hyatt, Pat Shea, Ryan Putorti) 44.23

Girls

Boys Tennis

Will Kemeny and Will Rastatter both won in singles play, but Grove City fell to Warren, 3-2, in the first round of the District 10 team playoffs.

Softball

Cheyenne Hindman and Macy McCall both homered, two of Slippery Rock's eight extra-base hits in a 13-0 victory at Franklin.

Julianna Hutchinson doubled and tripled for the Rockets (13-4), while Brynn Horner and Taylor Balint both doubled.

Baseball

Ricky Mineo and Dylan Dingel each doubled, but Slippery Rock lost to Meadville in extra innings, 6-5.
