One-vehicle crash on Route 8 may be due to distracted driving

State police are at the scene of a one-vehicle crash on Route 8 in Brady Township that left the driver with minor injuries and his Jeep Grand Cherokee in the woods.

Troopers believe “distracted driving” was to blame for the wreck just before 1 p.m. north of Staff and Hall roads.

Police said Jeffrey Moss, 62, of Slippery Rock was traveling north when he “looked down” and lost control of his Jeep.

The vehicle crossed the center line and traveled over the southbound lane, nearly causing a head-on collision with a Michigan woman headed in the opposite direction.

The Jeep struck several trees. Police said Moss suffered scrapes. The investigation continues.

The full story will appear in Thursday's Butler Eagle.
