12:50 a.m. Tuesday — Lili M. Szymecki, 37, of Lyndora was arrested for allegedly being impaired on drugs in the 300 block of West North Street.

Police said that while checking for her identification they found three stamp bags of suspected heroin in one of Szymecki’s pockets, according to court documents. They later found her with a fourth bag.

Szymecki is charged with possession of a controlled substance and public drunkenness.

11:34 p.m. Monday — Police said Joshua Z. Jay, 37, of Butler was found allegedly intoxicated and with a suspected marijuana pipe after causing a disturbance at his mother’s house on the 300 block of Miller Avenue.

Jay is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.

Monday — Kristi M. Erkens, 36, of Center Township was charged with causing $884 in damage to property April 13 at a man’s apartment on the 400 block of North Washington Street.

The victim told police that Erkens became upset about 6:15 p.m. when he asked her to leave his apartment, and “started destroying” property, court documents said. That property included a futon belonging to the tenant.

Also damaged were a stove, baseboard heater thermostat, screen door and mailbox belonging to the landlord, Alpine Apartments.

Erkens is charged with criminal mischief and harassment.

Tuesday — An Apple iPhone 4 was found at the dek hockey rink on South Duffy Road. The owner can claim the phone at the police station at 290 S. Duffy Road.

Police advised the owner to bring a phone charger with him or her to unlock the phone and prove ownership.

[naviga:h3]Slippery Rock University Police[/naviga:h3]

April 26 — A Northampton County teenager was charged with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop on Central Loop in Slippery Rock Township.

The defendant, Cameron M. Long, 19, of Wind Gap, was pulled over about 1:10 a.m. April 17, according to court documents, because one of his brake lights was not working. He also had no license plate lights.

Police said they smelled marijuana coming from the car and the suspect admitted that he smoked the drug about three hours earlier. A search of the vehicle turned up a marijuana grinder and other contraband, police said. The teen also handed over a marijuana pipe, police said.

He subsequently showed impairment during field sobriety tests, documents indicate. Police took him to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology reports confirmed he had marijuana in his system.

Long is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a lighting violation.

11:40 p.m. Saturday — Mark A. Kohnen, 45, of Clay Township was arrested for allegedly taking $200 from a wallet that was on a table inside of the bar at the American Legion on Route 308 in Clay Township.

Police said they later found the defendant walking on Route 308. He was allegedly intoxicated and taken into custody. He is accused of spitting in the back seat of the police cruiser and being “very belligerent” and “uncooperative” toward arresting officers, according to court documents.

Kohnen claimed “he only stole $3,” a police affidavit said, “and threw it on the side of the road somewhere.” He also claimed he was leaving for Arkansas.

He was arraigned on charges of theft, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.

April 25 — Shelli D. Cornelius, 48, of Fenelton was charged with drunken driving stemming from an earlier traffic stop in Center Township. Police said they pulled her over about 2:15 a.m. April 8 for weaving in her lane on the 2300 block of Route 8.

Police said Cornelius admitted that she had been drinking at a bar in Brady Township. She failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Slippery Rock University police station for a breath test, which showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.129 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

She is charged with driving under the influence, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.

1 p.m. April 24 — Nelson N. Elder, 54, was found with a suspected marijuana smoking bowl at this home on Palmer Road in Center Township. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

April 24 — Police charged Michael B. Sopo, 19, of Harrisville with vandalizing a sport utility vehicle earlier in Harrisville.

The victim told police that she had gotten into an argument with Sopo in the early morning of April 13 while traveling in her Toyota RAV4. The teenager was driving the vehicle.

She recounted that she got out and started to walk away. Sopo is accused of taking the key out of the ignition and “keying” a derogatory word into the driver’s side door, according to court documents. The damage was estimated at $3,167.49.

Sopo is charged with criminal mischief.
