BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

The Prayer Shawl Group of Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, meets at 1 p.m. today.

Holy Communion will be observed at both services Sunday.

The St Vincent DePaul food cupboard work team meets at 8 a.m. Monday.

Food cupboard items for May are ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise.

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., celebrates the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper at the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service.

Stephen. Barr of Slippery Rock University will direct “A Choral Concert” at 7 p.m. Saturday in the sanctuary. The concert is in honor of Beverly Antis and its offering benefits the Covenant music program.

FENELTON U.M.

Fenelton United Methodist Church, 810 Clearfield Road, hosts a contemporary evening service at 6:30 p.m. May 13 for the Buffalo Charge. To provide music, read Scripture or have other participation in the service, call 724-297-5875.

FIRST BAPTIST

Teens from First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will participate in the spring youth retreat at Slippery Rock Baptist Camp which begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday and concludes at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Sunday’s service schedule begins with an 8:30 a.m. prayer service followed by a 9:15 a.m. breakfast and 9:45 a.m. Sunday school classes followed by an 11 a.m. worship service.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

Ladies’ Night Out at Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., is at 5:30 p.m. today at Rock Ann Haven. 141 Greenwood Drive.

Men of Grace are invited to a BALM Men’s Gathering at Trinity Lutheran Church at 8 a.m. Saturday. Breakfast will be served, followed by a discussion to plan future events.

The youth group fundraiser breakfast for the Houston trip will be 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Sunday. An offering will be taken.

The Christian education committee meets at 9 a.m. Sunday during breakfast.

Volunteers from Grace @ Calvary will serve the community dinner at First English Monday. Volunteers should be there at 4 p.m. to help set up and serve dinner which starts at 5 p.m.

Butler Relay For Life will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday in the social hall.

Tuesday night committee meetings are: 6 p.m. property, 6:30 p.m. finance and 7 p.m. worship and music.

GRACEWAY

GraceWay meets at the Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road.

Ruth Ferko and Beth Ackelson will provide the music at the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., will celebrate the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper at the Sunday worship service. The chancel choir will sing.

The women’s book club will meet at 12:15 p.m. Sunday in the hall lounge.

The quilters’ club meets at 9 a.m. Friday.

The food request for May is cereal.

JEFFERSON CENTER

Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church, 390 Frazier Road, Saxonburg, will celebrate Communion at the 9:30 a.m. Sunday worship service.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., will celebrate Communion at the 8:30 a.m. Sunday service.

There will be a CE/MO meeting and a building and grounds committee meeting at 12:15 p.m. Sunday in the board room.

MS/HS youth group will meet at 6 p.m. Sunday.

The women’s Bible study will meet in the board room at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

GriefShare will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Library Room.

MERIDIAN PRESBYTERIAN

Meridian Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., celebrates Communion at its 11 a.m. Sunday worship service.

The congregation is encouraged to sign up to have a family photo taken for the new church directory. Appointments can be made on the church website or on Sunday mornings.

OLD UNION PRESBYTERIAN

Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, will have a Lighthouse representative in Sunday school this week to talk about Lighthouse’s work.

David Schell will preach and lead worship Sunday.

The youth group will volunteer May 12 for the Allegheny County Special Olympics summer games.

ORCHARD HILL BUTLER COUNTY

Orchard Hill Butler County worships at Penn Christian Academy, 199 W. Airport Road, Penn Township, and will have a volunteer appreciation breakfast at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the academy with its monthly core group. This will be followed by a 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service.

SAINT ANDREWS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., has a Blest Be the Tie That Binds Spring Service and Supper at 4 p.m. Sunday to enable homebound members an opportunity to attend church. Everyone is invited.

The May mission offering will go to the local Soroptimists to help fund “A Place to Lay My Head.” This mission provides beds, linens, pillows and more to needy families in the Butler area. Place donations in a “First Sunday Mission Offering” envelope from the pew racks or write “A Place to Lay My Head” on the memo line of the check.

The Backpack Initiative, which helps students have something to eat over the weekend, is back. During May, a giant backpack will be placed in the narthex. Place food items in the backpack.

Items are needed for the fall rummage sale. Donations can be dropped off in the storage area of the Bethany Room from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday. To help with sorting and organizing donations, contact Anzie Kelley.

SPRINGDALE LUTHERAN

Springdale Lutheran Church, 1061 Mahood Road, West Sunbury, will have the Rev. Dennis Protzman as guest minister Sunday.

Baked goods are still needed for the annual church chicken and pork chop dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Items can be dropped off Friday morning. Church council is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. May 14.

Project ideas are needed for the Friendly Fellowship Group.

ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 420 Beaver St., Mars, will have a Mother’s Day Breakfast at 9 a.m. May 13 at the church to honor mothers and grandmothers.

The Sunday school service project is a men’s summer kit. Take items to donate Sunday.

The youth group will meet in the lobby of St. John Specialty Care Center at 1:45 p.m. Saturday to assist with the bowling league.

The Circle of Friends concert is 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.

ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Connoquenessing, 100 Main St., will celebrate Communion during Sunday worship.

A potluck breakfast will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday before the worship service. Take a favorite breakfast item to share. Coffee, milk, and juice will be provided.

The Cause of the Month for May is Camp Lutherlyn.

The finance committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday to complete an audit of last year’s finances.

ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, will celebrate Holy Communion at the 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday services. Contemporary worship is at 9:30. a.m. There will be a new drivers’ blessing at all three services.

The outreach ministry will lead the 2 p.m. Sunday worship service at Elmcroft Assisted Living, 100 Bella Court, Saxonburg.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., celebrates Communion at the 6 p.m. Saturday and 8 and 10:15 a.m. Sunday worship services.

Pet blessings will be at 2 p.m., Sunday at the Vagabond Center, 138 Whitestown Road.
