Shay's huge day sparks KC victory

Mackenzie Shay had herself a day on the softball diamond Saturday for Karns City.

She struck out six and scattered nine hits in the Gremlins' 16-6 win over Clarion-Limestone. Shay also belted a home run, two doubles, collected four RBI and scored twice.

Mackenzie Dunn homered and drove in four runs for Karns City (9-1), which visits Clarion Monday.

Garrett Schaffhauser scored five goals, but Freeport dropped a 16-6 decision to Mars. Greg Smith had 16 saves for the Yellowjackets.

Nathan Hildebrand had a double and three RBI Saturday as Slippery Rock defeated Hickory, 8-4. Winning pitcher Dylan Dingel struck out six.

Dylan Swarmer had three doubles, a single and three RBI. Ethan Sloane had a double while Andy Pipes, Ben McMillen and Sean McGill all had two hits.

Knoch plays at Indiana Monday.
