BATON ROUGE, La. — Lauren Denny of Butler was initiated recently into Phi Kappa Phi, a selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

Denny was initiated at Slippery Rock University.

Phi Kappa Phi membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. The organization recognizes and promotes academic excellence in all fields and engages scholars in service to others.

WILKES-BARRE — Joshua Bradley of Mars was inducted recently into Pi Sigma Alpha, a national political science honor society. Bradley is a political science major at Wilkes University.

Pi Sigma Alpha is the only honor society for college and university students of government in the United States. The Sigma Pi chapter at Wilkes University recognizes students for their academic success.

BRADFORD — Phyllis Dadzaa of Grove City recently presented a poster during the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford’s 17th annual Honors Day.

Her presentation, “Issues within Juvenile Facilities,” was from her coursework for Contemporary Issues in Courts, Justice and Policy.

Dadzaa is a junior at the university and a criminal justice major.

JACKSON TWP — Seneca Valley High School video production students and SVTV volunteers recently won eight awards at Robert Morris University’s annual Digital Media Arts Consortium.

The SVTV Sports Production crew won best in category in the Live Event category for their coverage of the boys’ basketball senior night.

Senior Liz Koromaus won a best in category award in Special Effects for an animated Seneca Says title sequence (introduction).

Senior Koda Calma won awards of excellence in both the PSA and Documentary categories.

Freshmen Matthew Ditmore and Zach Donaldson picked up an award of excellence for Animation, while the Seneca Says crew won in the Morning Announcements category.

Jack Reynolds received an award in the Black and White Photography category and also accepted a Founders Award for his extensive contributions to SVTV during the last four years.

This was the 20th annual DMAC (formerly TVT) festival, where outstanding media work from Western Pennsylvania high school students is shown and celebrated.
