March for Babies raises $23,550
CRANBERRY TWP — The March of Dimes March for Babies raised $23,550 toward the organization's goal of $51,000.
The organization's March for Babies, a major fundraising event, was held last weekend at North Boundary Park in Cranberry Township.
According to Meghan Principe, March of Dimes Western Pennsylvania Chapter spokeswoman, about 400 people participated in the event in which corporate teams, family teams and individuals walk for three miles to commemorate their contributions to the organization.
The participants raised money for the organization, with a large portion going toward the mission of education and research to prevent infant mortality, birth defects and premature births.
“It went really well,” she said. “We had a great day and a great turnout.”
Principe said individuals can still donate by visiting the organization's website, www.marchforbabies.org/event/butlerpa.
“We will get there at the end,” she said, adding the fund drive runs through the end of the year.
The organization's website indicates top fundraisers include Barbara Roth, who raised $2,067; Kate Kinser, $1,288; and Jocelyn Wilson, $803. The top family team, named 'Fighting for Every Baby,' raised $2,067.
Other events will be held throughout the region in the coming months.
