John Whitford’s April 17 letter (“Driven to extremes”) states, “people bent on harming others will use knives, bombs, cars, and other things to do violence” in defense of the Second Amendment and the use of firearms.

While I agree with his premise, how many were killed when Alex Hribal at Franklin Regional High School went on a rampage and injured multiple individuals with a knife? Contrast this with the murders at Sandy Hook, Florida, Las Vegas, etc., all using firearms with devastating results.

This has no defense.
