JEFFERSON TWP — Jessi Reed squeezed out of a seventh-inning jam to preserve a third straight conference title for the Butler County Community College softball team.

Against Garrett College, the Pioneers led 7-4 entering the seventh before allowing a pair of runs. But with runners at first and second and one out, Reed induced a fly-out and tallied a strikeout to seal a 7-6 win at Laura Doerr Park.

Reed, a Knoch graduate, pitched a complete game with four strikeouts and four walks. She helped herself at the plate with a single, triple and two RBI.

Jesse Yenick also singled and tripled and collected two runs and three RBI. Sydney Natili had three hits and a run scored and Nikki Houk two hits and a run batted in.

The Pioneers (5-0) will now prepare for the Region XX Tournament, scheduled for next weekend at Anne Arundel (Md.) Community College.

BC3 coach Dan Beebe was named Western Pa. Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year.
