Post offices to host seminars

Butler County locations of the U.S. Postal Service will join the nation next week in celebrating Small Business Week.

At various times throughout the week, select offices will host seminars on services and products offered by the postal service.

Thirteen county offices will hold seminars. They include Butler, Chicora, Evans City, Harrisville, Lyndora, Mars, Portersville, Prospect, Renfrew, Sarver, Saxonburg, Slippery Rock and Zelienople.

Victoria Bowser, supervisor of the Butler office, said brochures and staff will offer information to small business owners at the Butler seminar, which is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.

“We will have various information pamphlets on many ways to save shipping and advertising costs and also increase revenue when shipping through the postal service,” Bowser said.

She said her staff will be focused on growing business connections and answering questions about how they can help in small business development.

“With the increased online developments it is really a hands-on connection for the customer to actually receive information that is visual and links the customer to the smaller business mindset,” Bowser said.

She said local post offices can be great for small businesses, especially because of their unique connections.

“We are at every address in the community every day. We have many advantages that other shippers just can't compete with,” Bowser said. “We have relationships with our customers that can't be duplicated from years of customer acquaintances.”

Check with your local post office for dates, times and more information about their seminars.
