United Way looking for volunteers

Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau is partnering with Butler County’s United Way office to host an open house focusing on the United Way’s mission, how it impacts the community and how people can volunteer.

This free event will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 3 at Conley Resort, 740 Pittsburgh Road. Refreshments will be provided.

United Way of Butler County, a nonprofit organization, recently merged with United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania and is now called United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania — Butler Office.

“Everything we do is for the benefit of our community, and we want people to take advantage of the opportunities to help others,” said Jack Cohen, tourism bureau president.

Volunteers will share their personal experiences. Sign-up sheets will be available for volunteer opportunities.

In addition to individuals, representatives from businesses, corporations Scout troops and churches are invited to attend.

“We’re a one-stop shop for volunteering. We connect people and organizations with those who need help,” said John Furman, volunteer coordinator for United Way of Butler County.
