Your April 15 article (“Redistricting big issue at Metcalfe town halls”) about state Rep. Daryl Metcalfe's Town Halls and the issues surrounding the anti-gerrymandering bill, HR722, quotes Metcalfe saying, “The Cranberry supervisors don't represent my constituents ... They were elected in elections where there was minimal competition.”

Metcalfe's statement shows a lack of self-awareness and a great deal of psychological projection.

Since being elected in 1998, Metcalfe has, with all due respect to his Democratic opponents, faced only token opposition in most general elections and has even run unopposed in the 2004, 2006 and 2012 general elections. In fact, the only time he ever came close to losing was when Gordon Marburger came within 500 votes of beating him the 2014 Republican primary.

That all seems like the very definition of being “ ... elected in elections where there was minimal competition.”

Therefore, based on his own logic, Metcalfe does not represent his own constituents. Given his penchant for making outrageous statements and his long history of racism and homophobia, and his refusal to work with bodies like the Cranberry Township board of supervisors, it's abundantly clear to this life-long Republican that Daryl Metcalfe does not serve the needs of southwestern Butler County.It's time for him to go.
