MUDDY CREEK TWP — Divers and water rescue crews Wednesday evening recovered the body of a 42-year-old woman in Lake Arthur at Moraine State Park.

The death is not considered suspicious and authorities believe the woman apparently committed suicide. Authorities did not released her name.

Butler County Coroner William Young III pronounced her dead after rescuers returned the body to shore shortly before 7 p.m.

When contacted by telephone Thursday morning, Young said an autopsy was not planned.

Park officials were alerted about 4:30 p.m., after the woman's sister called 911 saying the woman had left a possible suicide note at the caller's home in Penn Township.

Rangers found the woman's Subaru at the Pleasant Valley non-motorized boat launch on the park's South Shore, said Dustin Drew, park manager.

The unoccupied vehicle was locked and there was no sign of the kayak.

Park employees conducted a quick canvass around the Pleasant Valley boat launch, and eventually called in the Unionville Volunteer Fire Department's dive team and Butler County's Water Rescue Team 300.
