SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock High School will present the musical “The Drowsy Chaperone” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the high school auditorium, 201 Kiester Road.

Tickets are $7 and will be for sale from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day through April 14 at the athletic office, and from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. every day in the high school auditorium lobby. For questions about tickets, call 724-794-2960.

The director and choreographer is Allison Dalcamo.

The vocal director is Kevin Shield.

The orchestra conductor is Les Fine.

The student director is Nicole Cardello, and the student choreographer is Ashley Rodgers.

Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Original Score, “The Drowsy Chaperone” is a loving send-up of the Jazz Age musical, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another.

With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical.

The recording comes to life and “The Drowsy Chaperone” begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theater producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight.
