2 vehicles damaged in accident

One vehicle sustained heavy damage in a two-car accident Friday on Route 68 in Jackson Township.

JACKSON TWP — A two-vehicle accident Friday on Route 68 near Evans City resulted in no injuries.

Jackson Township Police Chief Terry Seilhamer said the accident occurred at 7:22 a.m. on Route 68 near its intersection with Ridge Road. A 2018 Chevrolet Impala driven by a 16-year-old girl from Cranberry Township was traveling west and didn’t stop in time for the vehicles braking ahead of her, as a lead vehicle was turning onto Ridge Road. The vehicle struck a 2014 Honda CRV driven by a 56-year-old Evans City man.

The girl’s vehicle sustained heavy damage to the front and had to be towed. She requested to be seen by paramedics at the scene, but did not need further treatment.

The CRV sustained moderate damage to the bumper and was able to be driven from the scene.

Seilhamer said the female driver will be cited for driving too fast for conditions.
