12:28 p.m. Tuesday — Daniel Medina, 43, of Butler was arrested on charges he assaulted a woman during a domestic dispute at an apartment on the 300 block of West Cunningham Street.

The alleged victim told police that Medina grabbed and pulled her hair and twice punched her on the side of the head, which caused her to fall onto the floor, according to court documents. Police said she had minor injuries.

Medina was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and later released on his own recognizance.

Monday — Richard A. Swann, 29, of Lyndora was charged with having drugs stemming from his Feb. 25 arrest on a bench warrant at Pillow Street and Bantam Avenue.

Police said that when they searched him they found a rock of suspected crack cocaine in a pants pocket and a stamp bag of suspected heroin in his wallet.

He is charged with a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance.

1:59 a.m. Monday — Linda M. Claypoole, 54, of Butler was caught with a suspected crack pipe following her arrest on a warrant on West Penn Street.

Police said Claypoole was a passenger in a vehicle they stopped for a traffic violation. Officers learned that she was wanted by state police on an arrest warrant in connection with a January shoplifting case.

Police took her to Butler County Prison for the warrant. While waiting to be booked, according to court documents, she admitted that she had a crack pipe, which she turned over to police.

She is charged with a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Claypoole also was arraigned on a felony charge of retail theft in the warrant. She was released on $2,500 unsecured bail following arraignment.

9:39 a.m. Tuesday — Two students, both girls, suffered minor injuries during a fight at Butler Intermediate High School. Police cited both girls, ages 13 and 14, for disorderly conduct.

11:57 p.m. March 9 — A Westmoreland County man was arrested for drunken driving on Kiester Road at West Lake Lane. Police said they pulled over Shane M. Churma, 21, of Trafford for driving without his headlights on.

He admitted that he had been drinking and was coming from a Slippery Rock bar, court documents said. He subsequently failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the station for a breath test.

Police said Churma’s blood-alcohol level was 0.103 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

He is charged with driving under the influence and a lighting violation.
