PROSPECT — Local author Polly Shaw will give a presentation on the Western Allegheny Railroad, 1906 to 1939, from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Prospect Preservation Society, 383 Main St.

The event is free and books will be available for purchase.

[naviga:h3]Center offers tick awareness talk[/naviga:h3]

BRADY TWP — The Pennsylvania Lyme Resource Network will present “Preventing Tick Bites and Tick Borne Diseases,” at 1 p.m. March 24 at Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road.

A Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection study reported Lyme and other tick-borne disease in all 67 counties in the state.

[naviga:h3]Soroptimists host ‘Bloom’ luncheon[/naviga:h3]

Soroptimist International of Butler County will host its “A Time to Bloom” luncheon April 21 at the Butler Country Club, 310 Country Club Road.

The event is a major fundraiser for the group which sponsors and supports programs that improve the lives of women and girls.

Doors will open at 10 a.m. with an opportunity for participants to visit vendors and enjoy a basket raffle. Lunch will be served at noon.
