2:45 a.m. Saturday — Phillip A. Wise, 29, of Butler allegedly threatened to kill a woman at an apartment on the 400 block of West North Street.

The victim and another woman, according to court documents, told police that Wise threatened to “slit (the victim’s) throat, watch her die and place her on a stake.”

He is charged with terroristic threats.

Friday — Police charged Benjamin T. Zellefrow, 39, of Kittanning with running from police and having suspected drug contraband stemming from an incident Feb. 13 on the 400 block of East Jefferson Street.

Officers were called about noon for a report of a suspicious man in the culvert near Primary Care Associates, police said. The man had been there for about an hour.

Police said when they spotted the man he began walking away, ignoring an officer who told him to stop. The man, later identified as Zellefrow, began “running in between houses,” according to court documents.

The defendant was eventually caught after he went through a gate in the backyard of a home on College Street. He was searched and found with a plastic bag containing 15 different types of silver and gold rings, police said. He did not say where he got the rings.

Police said they also found him with drug contraband, including a syringe, razor blade, plastic baggies and two metal push rods.

Zellefrow is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct.

Feb. 21 — An Armstrong County woman was charged with bouncing two checks totaling $423.80 in January at the Giant Eagle store at Buffalo Plaza.

The defendant, Doreen D. Lichanec, 53, of Kittanning, on Jan. 16 and 18 passed the checks, one written on an account that could not be located and the other on an account that was closed, according to court documents.

Store officials sent Lichanec two certified letters, seeking restitution, but both were returned unclaimed.

She is charged with two counts of bad checks and one count of theft by deception.

Tuesday — James R. Snow, 65, of Butler was charged in connection with a road rage-type incident Feb. 2 that began on Whitestown Road in Lyndora.

A short time later, at the Hansen Avenue red light, Snow got out of his car and confronted the other driver, a man they did not identify. He “slammed his foot down” on the bottom part of the other vehicle’s front bumper, causing $940 in damage, according to a police report.

Police charged Snow with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

Monday — David M. Winkler, 68, of Lyndora was charged with having a suspected marijuana pipe in connection with a traffic stop about 8:50 p.m. Feb. 10 on Armco Drive. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

12:30 p.m. Tuesday — A Milwaukee brand impact driver was found on the side of Route 422 east in Summit Township. Police noted that the owner of the tool has 90 days to claim the property, which is being kept at the Kittanning barracks in Armstrong County.

Monday — Police arrested an Indiana County man on charges he fraudulently used a Mercer Township couple’s credit card last year to make $2,672 in unauthorized purchases.

The victims notified police after checking their credit card statement and finding the illicit activity that happened between Feb. 1 and June 27, 2017, according to court documents.

Surveillance video obtained during the investigation helped police identify the defendant, Chad M. Walker, 26, of Indiana. He was arraigned Monday on a felony count of access device fraud, and later released on $2,500 unsecured bail.

Feb. 15 — Police charged two New Castle men with having marijuana stemming from an incident last year outside an apartment complex in Slippery Rock Township.

A trooper said she was working a detail about 10:47 p.m. Oct. 14 during homecoming at Slippery Rock University when she smelled marijuana while driving through the parking lot at The Heights on Stillwater Lane.

Police eventually found the defendants — Joshua A. Williams, 26, and Tyler J. Williams, 20 — who were subsequently frisked. The pat-down searches turned up a small baggie of marijuana in each of their pockets, according to court documents.

Both men are charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.
