Freeport's Livingston falls shy of finals

NORTH VERSAILLES — Freeport freshman Mark Livingston fell one spot short of qualifying for the stepladder finals in the Western Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Bowling League's individual championships Wednesday at North Versailles Bowl.

The top six bowlers moved on to the stepladder portion of the event. Livingston rolled a 605 series with games of 236, 191 and 178. He finished seventh.

The final qualifier — Jaydon Bailey of Canon-McMillan — rolled a 615 series. He reached the title match before losing 263-169 to champion Devin Crepp of Beaver Falls.

Crepp rolled a 214 in the semifinal round. He topped all qualifiers with a 723 series, rolling games of 204, 279 and 240.

Butler's highest finisher was Chris Huff, who bowled a 558 series to place 21st. He had a 235 game. The Golden Tornado's Cole Thrash rolled a 522 series to finish 44th in the 116-bowler field.

Jordan Reges rolled a 506 series and was 54th.

The WPIBL's girls individual championships are Thursday at Sims Lanes in Beaver Falls.
