JEFFERSON TWP — While the superintendent of South Butler County School District would not confirm what the exact issues were, he did say the police had been called to the school district in the last several days.

“We've had several issues this past week and have spoken with the state police,” Superintendent David Foley said.

He would not confirm in what school the incidents occurred or the grade level or genders of the students, but he did say no classes were canceled because of the issues.

“The students have been disciplined accordingly,” Foley said.

He confirmed that the matter is in the hands of the Pennsylvania State Police, but could not confirm whether there were any arrests.

Foley sent a letter on Wednesday to all school families that reiterated the district's commitment to safety and listed websites where upset students could find relief.

“Reviewing you child's belongings is an important proactive step for avoiding issues throughout the school day,” Foley's letter reads. “We will continue refining safety procedures to support all stakeholders of the South Butler County School District.”

The State Police, Butler Barracks did not return phone calls for comment on the incidents.
