The negotiator for the South Butler County School District's 168 teachers said a strike date has been set after three and one-half years of fruitless negotiations with the school board.
The teachers last contract expired in June 2014 and two fact-finding reports by a state mediator have not settled the two sides' differences, which are wages, salary, tuition reimbursement, early retirement incentive and the addition of time onto in-service days, said negotiator Brooke Witt of Uniserv.
Tom Breth, the school board's negotiator, said the teachers have done nothing but reject proposals and have an "entitlement attitude."
Witt would not give an exact date for a teachers strike when asked by the Butler Eagle.
“(Teachers are) pretty frustrated and demoralized,” Witt said.
