McDermott's 20 key SR victory

Emma McDermott led a balanced attack with 20 points as Slippery Rock posted a 67-52 girls basketball victory over host Moniteau on Saturday.

Moniteau (10-10) held a 17-10 lead after one quarter, but was outscored 40-22 in the second and third periods.

Three other Rockets reached double figures in points — Hallie Raabe (17), Anna Kadlubek (13) and Maryann Ackerman (13). Jenna Heitzenrater pulled down 11 rebounds and had five steals and McDermott added six steals.

Slippery Rock improved to 13-4 with the triumph.

Emma Bair (19 points), Andie Arblaster (12) and Izzy Bair (11) paced Moniteau's offense.

Seneca Valley 54, Hopewell 47 — The Raiders jumped on host Hopewell for an 18-4 lead in the first quarter and a 30-11 edge by halftime.

Haley Cramer had 17 point, five rebounds and three steals for SV while McKenna Gross tallied 16 points, five rebounds and three steals.

Peters Township 69, CW North Catholic 66 (30T) — Tess Myers scored 37 points for the Trojanettes, 33 of them after halftime, but CWNC was edged by the host Indians.

CWNC trailed 36-26 after three quarters before outscoring the Indians 21-11 in the fourth to tie the game at 47.

The score was tied at 55 after the first overtime and was knotted at 60 entering the third extra period.

Kylee Lewandowski added 11 points in defeat and Dani Short contributed 10.

For Peters Township, Makenna Marisa totaled 28 points and Isabella Mills 25.

Canon-McMillan prevailed in a low-scoring affair at Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic, defeating the Trojans 41-30.

The non-section loss dropped CWNC to 9-10 overall. The Trojans host section foe Avonworth on Tuesday.
