Karns City boys tie for South lead

Gremlins edge Keystone, 57-55

Austin Fahlor led three Karns City players in double digits with 14 points Thursday night as the Gremlins nipped Keystone, 57-55, at home in boys basketball.

The win gives the Gremlins (11-6, 7-1) a share of first place in the KSAC South with the Panthers.

“This is a big win for us,” Karns City coach Chris Bellis said.”We've had our eye on Keystone since we lost to them in the third game of the season.

“We felt we'd play much better the next time around and we did.”

The Gremlins missed free throws at the end of the game, but did not allow Keystone to tie the contest or go ahead on its final possession.

Nolan Riley had 13 points and Chase Beighley 12 for Karns City. Jacob Friel contributed seven assists and eight rebounds.

Corey Rapp paced Keystone with 22 points.

Bowling

Chris Huff rolled a 259 game and 694 series Wednesday to lead the Butler bowling team to a 7-0 victory over Freeport at Wildlife Lanes in Lower Burrell.

Cole Thrash added a 256-692 and Jordan Reges rolled a 602 series for the Golden Tornado (9-0). Mark Livingston had a 245-621 and Seth Chance a 225-556 for Freeport (5-4).

Nicole Nebel rolled a pair of 201 games and a 580 series to lead Butler's girls to a 7-0 win. Jordyn Graham added a 558 series and Ashley McCue a 528 for the Tornado (9-0).

Kaitlyn Crissman had a 148-400 for the Yellowjackets (1-8).

Wrestling

Knoch put together four pins and defeated Summit Academy, 58-24, in a dual match Wednesday night.

Scoring pins for the Knights were Hunter Oskin at 120 pounds, Kameron Grassi at 126, Brendan Hinchberger at 152 and Saavon Mosby at heavyweight.
