Injuries reported in Whitestown Road accident

Fog and ice may have caused an accident on Whitestown Road Sunday morning.

CONNOQUNESSING TWP — Injuries were reported in an accident on an icy Whitestown Road Sunday morning.

A car with five people inside hit a tree on Whitestown west of the intersection with Eagle Mill Road, fire officials said.

The Connoquenessing and Butler Township Station 3 fire departments were dispatched.

State police were investigating, though more information was not immediately available.

Visibility was also poor Sunday morning because of fog. According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh: “a mild and moist air mass moving in over melting snow this morning has allowed areas of fog to form. The fog is locally dense in some spots, with visibilities of one quarter mile or less.”
