[naviga:h3]Sarver’s Bowser joins All-Star circuit[/naviga:h3]

SARVER — Freeport graduate and Sprint car racer Carl Bowser will launch his rookie season with the All-Star Sprint Circuit of Champions this season.

Bowser drove the Chiappelli Motorsports No. 98 for the first time last season, running 43 races and compiling three victories.

He will kick off the 2018 season in March at a race in Central Pa. The All-Star points opener is April 6 at Atomic Speedway.

[naviga:h3]SRU gridders earn Super Region 1 spots[/naviga:h3]

The Don Hansen Football Gazette has named Slippery Rock University senior defensive end Marcus Martin the Super Region 1 Defensive Player of the Year for the third straight season.

Super Region 1 is comprised of 40 teams from the PSAC, MEC, NE10 and GMAC conferences.

Senior wide receiver Marcus Johnson joined Martin as a first-team selection. Johnson also made second team as a return specialist. SRU guard Ian Park also made second team.

Rock quarterback Tanner Garry and receiver Milly Raye made third team.

[naviga:h3]Prospect League streaming games[/naviga:h3]

The Prospect League has entered a multi-year partnership with Stretch Internet to provide high definition video streams of all games played, beginning with the 2018 season.

Each team — including the Butler BlueSox — will be responsible for producing streams of their home games, including video and game commentary.
