[naviga:h3]St. Gregory wins hoop showdown[/naviga:h3]

ZELIENOPLE — The St. Gregory boys basketball team defeated Butler Catholic, 52-35, Tuesday night in a showdown that will likely determine the Pittsburgh Diocese Section North B championship.

The Wolves improved to 7-0 on the year with the Butler Catholic Saints slipped to 7-2, with both losses coming to St. Gregory.

Mathew Gregor paced the Wolves with 33 points while Ben Tomer netted eight. Carson Laconi scored 20 and CJ Singleton 15 for Butler Catholic.

[naviga:h3]BC3’s Craig among best in NJCAA[/naviga:h3]

BUTLER TWP — Karns City graduate and Butler County Community College freshman women’s basketball player Mackenzie Craig is among NJCAA’s national leaders — men’s and women’s teams, all divisions — in three categories.

Craig leads all of NJCAA basketball with 22.1 rebounds per game. Her 30.7 points per game leads players on all 420 women’s squads and leads all but two male players in NJCAA.

Craig has connected on 141 of 174 free throws this season. Her points from the line rank third in all of NJCAA as well.
