SRU basketball sweeps at Clarion

The Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team bounced back from its first loss in almost a month with a 98-69 rout on the road Wednesday night against Clarion University.

The Rock wasted little time rebounding from Monday’s loss that snapped a 10-game winning streak, jumping out to a 52-24 halftime lead.

Slippery Rock (13-3, 7-3) shot 49.4 percent from the field, 35.7 percent from 3-point range.

Five players finished with double-digit scoring nights for The Rock with Micah Till leading the way with 22 points and 12 rebounds in just 25 minutes.

It was Till’s 11th double-double of the year.

Cameron Grumley led Clarion (3-13, 0-10) with 19 points.

Women’s Basketball

Brooke Hinderliter scored 18 points and Madison Johnson added 17 more to lead The Rock women to a 68-53 win over Clarion.

Hinderliter also had eight rebounds and two assists. She scored 14 of her points in the second half.

SRU (8-7, 6-4) has now won at least six conference games in four consecutive seasons for the first time in 16 years.
