Monday — Michael P. Brandon, 57, of Butler was charged with renting property from KENMAC Rental & Sales on South Main Street last fall and not returning the item.

Police said Brandon on Sept. 28 signed a contract to rent a heavy duty string trimmer for one day. The business on Oct. 13 sent Brandon a certified letter advising him to return the property, valued at $396.44, within 10 days, according to court documents.

The letter, however, was returned to KENMAC stamped “return to sender, unclaimed, unable to forward.”

Brandon is charged with first-degree misdemeanor counts of theft of leased property and theft of services.

[naviga:h3]Adams Twp Police[/naviga:h3]

12:43 a.m. Tuesday — Robert F. Soloski-Allison, 22, was arrested after he allegedly threatened to kill his brother during an argument at his home on Butler Street in Valencia.

Police said the defendant became angry and began to rant and yell. At some point 36-year-old Jeffrey Allison of Evans City tried to calm his brother down.

But Soloski-Allison came out of the kitchen with a large knife and moved toward Jeffery Allison while threatening his life, police said. He eventually put down the knife and returned to his bedroom.

Soloski-Allison was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for an unspecified medical issue before being arraigned on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. He is in Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail.

[naviga:h3]Butler County Drug Task Force[/naviga:h3]

Monday — Kassandra L. Walker, 32, of Butler was charged with having drug contraband while being booked into the Butler County Prison.

During a routine search by prison staff, according to court documents, officers found 52 empty stamp bags of heroin, six hypodermic needles, a crack pipe and spoon in Walker’s purse.

She is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Monday — Valerie L. Downs-Ulisky, 26, of Center Township was arraigned on drugged driving and other charges stemming from a domestic dispute last year at her home on Jan Drive.

Police said they were called June 1 to the house, where they talked to Tyler Irvine, the defendant’s live-in boyfriend. He said that while they were traveling in a vehicle, she punched him three times on the side of the face.

While police were still at the home, according to court documents, Downs-Ulisky drove back to the home and parked in the driveway. She claimed she only hit Irvine one time on his body with her right arm.

Downs-Ulisky subsequently failed field sobriety tests and a drug recognition expert’s evaluation. Police said she also was found with a pipe containing a small amount of marijuana.

A blood test showed she had marijuana and methadone in her system, documents said.

Downs-Ulisky was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, harassment, driving with a suspended license and careless driving. She was released on her own recognizance.

Dec. 29 — Police charged Gregory J. Beavers, 31, with providing alcohol to four teenagers between 17 and 19 years old in April and May, at his home on Needle Point Road in Forward Township. He is charged with furnishing alcohol to minors.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Clarion[/naviga:h3]

8:58 p.m. Monday — A Louisiana man was arrested for drunken driving following a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in northern Butler County.

Police said Joseph G. Dernovish Jr., 38, of Shreveport lost control his eastbound tractor-trailer and struck a concrete barrier. Following the crash, a police report said, he overcompensated while attempting to steer away after the barrier, causing the rig to slide.

The vehicle overturned onto its left side, with the tractor jackknifed partially on top of the trailer, blocking the eastbound travel lane.

Police suspected Dernovish was intoxicated, according to court documents, and he admitting having earlier consumed beer with lunch at a restaurant in Ohio.

He was taken to Clarion Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results were not available. He also submitted to a portable breath test device, documents said, that showed his level of intoxication was “very high.”

Dernovish was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence, disregarding traffic lanes, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and reckless driving. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail following arraignment.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Franklin[/naviga:h3]

8:45 a.m. Monday — Angela Butler, 41, of Parker lost control of her sport utility vehicle and struck an embankment on Route 208 just east of Squaw Valley Road in Scrubgrass Township. The vehicle rolled over and ended on its roof.

Butler, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured but her vehicle had to be towed. She was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.

The Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department and Emlenton Ambulance assisted police at the scene.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]

Dec. 29 — Police charged Cody A. Montgomery, 29, of Worthington with having marijuana, pills and other drug paraphernalia at a home on East Main Street in Worthington. On Dec. 19, Montgomery was allegedly found with the suspected marijuana and other contraband, including medication without a prescription.

He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
