Maridon Museum, 322 N. McKean St., has in its collection Asian art and pieces of German Meissen porcelain. Regular gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, except holidays. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and students, and free for children younger than 8 accompanied by an adult. Guided tours are available with advanced notice for no extra charge. Harmony Museum, 218 Mercer St., Harmony, has tours that include the 1809 main museum building and wine cellar and a neighboring early 19th century house, both built by the communal Harmony Society, and a Mennonite log house, offered from 1 to 4 p.m. daily, except when the museum is closed Mondays and major holidays. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for senior citizens age 60 and older, and $3 for youths ages 6 to 17. Call 724-452-7341.

PITTSBURGH

National Aviary, 700 Arch St., presents penguin chicks, which were born Dec. 16 and 20, on view beginning Friday. The Aviary is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aviary admission is $14 for adults and $13 for senior citizens and children ages 2 to 12. Some activities cost extra. Carnegie Science Center on the North Side, because of construction on the PPG Science Pavilion, is closed through Sunday. But the Rangos Giant Cinema is open through Friday (and if the “Star Wars” run can be extended, it also will be open on Saturday and Sunday).

Children’s Museum, 10 Children’s Way, Allegheny Square, continues “Tough Art” through Jan. 21. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except holidays. Admission is $16 for adults and $14 for children ages 2 to 18 and senior citizens. Children younger than 2 are admitted free. Call 412-322-5058 or visit www.pittsburghkids.org.

Heinz History Center, 1212 Smallman St., hosts “A Very Merry Pittsburgh,” an exhibition featuring artifacts from Kaufmann’s/Macy’s department store, Christmas decorations, and historic toys spanning the 1940s to the 2000s, through Monday. The History Center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Center admission is $16 for adults, $14 for senior citizens age 62 and older, and $6.50 for students and children ages 6 to 17. Fort Pitt Museum in Point State Park is closed through Jan. 26 for upgrades and additions.
