Mars guard hits milestone in 62-53 win

Lauren Wasylson scored her 1,000th career point and had a big night to boot as Mars defeated Armstrong, 62-53, in high school girls basketball action Tuesday night.

Wasylson needed just three points for the milestone and ended up with 27.

Tai Johnson added 13 point and Bella Pelaia 11 for the Planets.

A-C Valley 58, Forest Area 16 — Cami McNany scored 13 points to lead a balanced scoring attack for the Falcons.

Ellie Thompson also scored in double digits for A-C Valley, which led 51-7 at the half, with 11.

Top shooters for Butler in a 795-55x to 790-49x win over Penn Trafford were Tiffany Carlson, Zach Freund, Andrew Arbanas and Jason Hansotte.

Private Schools

Aaron Drake scored 18 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and had eight assists as First Baptist Christian's boys basketball team defeated Harvest Baptist Academy, 54-50.

Derek Butterworth scored 15 points, Nick Flatt grabbed 12 rebounds and Ben Drake 10.

Bowling

Shawn Marcellus, Chris Huff and Jordan Reges led the way as Butler's boys defeated North Allegheny, 7-0.

Marcellus had a 246 game and 689 series, Huff a 236 game and 658 series, Reges a 236 game and 607 series. The Golden Tornado are 5-0 on the season. The loss was the Tigers' first of the campaign.

Butler's girls also moved to 5-0 with a 7-0 win over the Tigers. Nicole Nebel had a 224 game and 588 series, Ashley McCue a 539 series and Mercedes Belch a 505 series.

Butler faces Shaler at Perry Lanes on Wednesday.
