SRU win streak snapped at 10
INDIANA — Despite 22 points and 12 rebounds from sophomore forward Micah Till, Slippery Rock University’s men’s basketball team fell at Indiana (Pa.), 89-85, Monday night.
The Crimson Hawks led 89-80 before The Rock scored five points in the last nine seconds.
The Rock missed a chance to pull into a first-place tie in the PSAC West with the loss.
Aaron McDonald added 16 points for SRU (12-2, 6-2), which had its 10-game winning streak snapped.
Merdic Green chipped in 10 points in the loss.
The Crimson Hawks (10-4, 6-1) were led by Anthony Glover with 34 points. Jacobo Diaz added 23.
Women’s Basketball
A six minute, 21 second scoreless drought in the second quarter doomed SRU in a 76-50 loss at No. 3 Indiana.
The Rock and Crimson Hawks were deadlocked at 16 after the first quarter, but IUP went on a 24-5 run in the second quarter.
Brooke Hinderliter paced SRU (7-7, 5-4) with nine points, Skyla O’Connor had eight points and Karns City graduate LeeAnn Gibson, a sophomore forward, tallied four points and six rebounds.
IUP’s Megan Smith led all scorers with 22 points. The Crimson Hawks moved to 13-0 overall, 8-0 in the PSAC.
