Ritchie, Hart lead SV

Pair combines for 35 points in Raiders' win

David Ritchie scored 21 points — 12 coming in a prodigious third quarter — as the Seneca Valley boys basketball team overcame a sluggish first half for a 63-51 win over North Hills Friday night.

The Raiders (4-1, 1-1) trailed 33-26 at the half, but outscored the Indians 24-10 in the third quarter and 37-18 in the second half.

Chris Hart added 14 points and 10 rebounds for Seneca Valley. He hit three 3-pointers in the big third quarter for the Raiders, who will play at the Shady Side Side Academy Tournament, which begins Wednesday.

Kaukauna (Wisc.) 85, Mars 83 — Robby Carmody scored 39 points in a battle of blue-chip basketball recruits at the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers. Fla., Thursday, but Mars fell.

Carmody, a Notre Dame recruit, also had seven rebounds and five steals for the Planets (5-2), who suffered their second consecutive two-point loss at the Florida classic.

West Virginia University recruit Jordan McCabe scored 42 points for Kaukauna.

Karns City 60, Moniteau 42 — Freshmen Chase Beighley and Nathan Waltman each scored 18 points for the Gremlins in this KSAC win.

Karns City trailed 21-8 early in the second quarter, but began to trap and cut the Moniteau lead to two at the break.

The Gremlins then pulled away in the second half.

Ross Tenney scored 12 points to pace the Warriors.

Beighley also had six assists and Nolan Riley scored nine points to go with eight rebounds for Karns City (4-1, 3-1).

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic 59, Freedom 41 — John Fukon scored 19 points to lead the Trojans to the win.

Zack Rocco scored 13 points and Brian Davidson added 10 points for North Catholic (3-3).

Grove City 69, Slippery Rock 29 — Marcos Cintron scored 17 points and Isaac Thrasher added 16 as the Eagles rolled.

Grove City (4-0, 1-0) led 34-17 at the half.

Nick Wherthey led Slippery Rock (2-3, 0-1) with seven points.

Montour 71, Knoch 63 — Despite 33 points from Julian Sanks, the Knights fell at home.

Sanks' 33 points were a career high and the most for a Knoch player in a game since 2008.

Summit Academy 63, Leechburg 60 — Nayshawn Jones and Pierre Thomas each scored 14 points as the Knights (1-5, 1-2) picked up their first win of the season.

Girls Basketball

Tai Johnson scored 17 points and Lauren Wasylson added 16 as Mars rolled past Plum, 61-29.

Private Schools

Elijah White scored 19 points and Eli Stroh six as Portersville Christian's boys basketball team defeated Cheswick Christian, 45-14.

Isaiah Malloy led Cheswick with 11 points.
