A portion of Route 8 south in Butler Township was turned into a waterway about 9:30 a.m. Monday when a tractor-trailer knocked over a fire hydrant while turning into the Days Inn.

“I didn't see it,” the exasperated driver said of the hydrant. “It was covered in snow.”

Butler Township Police are investigating, but an accident report was not immediately available and the investigating officer declined comment.

The tractor-trailer is owned by Mid-East Truck & Tractor Service of East Canton, Ohio.
