Emily Hegedus continued her torrid start to the season with 28 points and 18 rebounds as Karns City gutted out a 51-46 home win over Keystone.

Hegedus was 20 of 22 from the free throw line as Karns City (3-1, 2-0) sank 27 of 33 of its foul shots as a team.

Livia Andreassi added nine points and 11 boards.

Mars 38, Kiski 27 — Alek Johnson scored 12 points for the Planets (2-2), who play at Seneca Valley Monday. Lauren Wasylson added 11 points for Mars.

Freeport 54, Indiana 34 — Jenna Manke scored 18 points to lead three Yellowjackets in double figures.

Maddie Clark added 13 points and Sidney Shemanski 12 for Freeport.

Union 53, Redbank Valley 51 (OT) — Bryn Davis scored eight of the Damsels' 12 points in overtime, including two 3-pointers, as Union eked out this KSAC victory.

Frankee Remmick paced the Damsels with 23 points.

A-C Valley 45, Moniteau 37 — Ellie Thompson scored 21 points for the Falcons while Olivia Boocks added 13. Emma Bair and Kristen Auvil scored 11 each for Moniteau (1-3). Bair had 10 rebounds and four blocked shots.

Boys Basketball

Joe Meinert hit a game-tying 3-pointer to force overtime and Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic rolled in the extra frame for a 47-36 win over Gateway.

John Fukon hit two 3-pointers late in regulation to set up Meinert's heroics.

Ryan Feczko scored 13 points to lead the Trojans (1-3) and Mike Drambel added 10.

Central Catholic 57, Seneca Valley 49 — David Ritchie scored 21 points for the Raiders (2-1, 0-1) in this section opener. Luke Nedrow scored 22 points, Justin Tarrant 13 and Cole Mason 10 for Central (1-3, 1-0).

A-C Valley 64, Moniteau 49 — Russell Carr scored 23 points — 14 in a huge third quarter for the Falcons — as A-C Valley pulled away for this KSAC victory.

The Falcons had four players score in double figures. Levi Orton scored 12 and Eddie Stevanus and Dalton Callander each added 10.

Ethan McDeavitt paced Moniteau with 18 points. Ross Tenney also scored 12 for the Warriors.

Valley 65, Freeport 55 — Ben Beale scored 21 points and Isiah Bauman added 13 for the Yellowjackets.

Keystone 56, Karns City 47 — Austin Fahlor scored 17 points to lead the Gremlins (2-2, 1-1).

Slippery Rock 65, Reynolds 53 — Nick Wherthy scored 21 points and Luke Brandon added 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Rockets.

Jeannette 67, Summit Academy 37 — Bryan Noel scored 10 points to pace the Knights.
