Open Since the 1800s
Friends of the Old Stone House showed visitors Saturday the music, decorations and general warmth of Christmas at the time of the Old Stone House's construction in 1822. In addition to musicians playing period holiday classics and the reading of traditional Christmas stories, visitors enjoyed information about Christmas customs of the early 1800s as well as cookies and hot cider. Old Stone House curator Aaron Cowan, who is a history professor at Slippery Rock University, said the Christmas Open House has been held in various forms for more than 10 years.
