No tax increase in Cranberry TWP

Public safety makes up the largest chunk of the $23.1 million general fund budget.

CRANBERRY TWP — Township supervisors approved a $77.3 million budget for 2018 that keeps the real estate tax rate steady during their meeting Thursday night.

The millage rate will remain at 13.25.

Water and sewer rates remain the same, although sewer rates will be reevaluated in the first quarter of 2018. There will be a 25 cent increase for trash collection fees in July.

A Cranberry resident with a household income of $94,000 and a property assessed at $24,500 would pay $789 in property and earned income taxes to the township, according to township documents.

Public safety makes up the largest chunk of the $23.1 million general fund budget at $6 million. As part of a two-year plan, four officers will be added to the police force and two patrolman positions will be added in 2018.
