Slippery Rock rejects mini-casinos

SLIPPERY ROCK — Council members unanimously voted Tuesday to prohibit the possibility of mini-casinos being built in the borough.

Gov. Tom Wolf signed the state's gambling expansion in October, which would allow for the establishment of up to 10 satellite casinos statewide.

Slippery Rock council members managed to beat the deadline. Municipalities have until Dec. 31 to decide whether they want to be considered as a potential location of the dubbed “mini-casinos,” which could have 300 to 750 slot machines and up to 30 table games.
