Gross nets 16 to lead SV victory

Junior point guard McKenna Gross drained 16 points to help Seneca Valley win the consolation game of its own girls basketball tournament Saturday.

The Raiders defeated McDowell, 50-32.

Haley Cramer chipped in 10 points to aid SV's winning effort, which was spurred by a 17-4 advantage in the third quarter.

Mars 72, Keystone 50 — In the consolation game of the Slippery Rock Tournament, Lauren Wasylson dropped 20 points for the Planets, Bella Pelaia scored 17 and Alek Johnson 13.

Mars held a 45-24 lead at halftime.

C.W. North Catholic 34, Oakland Catholic 27 — CWNC toppled the Eagles in the championship game of the Oakland Catholic Tournament, with Tess Myers scoring 14 points and Dani Short adding eight points and 12 rebounds.

Keystone Oaks 58, Freeport 41 — The Yellowjackets dropped the consolation game of the South Fayette Tournament.

Jenna Manke led Freeport with 11 points while Madeline Clark and Samantha Clark both tallied 10 points.

Mercyhurst Prep 44, Slippery Rock 42 — The Rockets battled back from an early 17-5 deficit, only to fall to the Lakers in the championship of the Slippery Rock Tournament.

Junior Emma McDermott and freshman Maryann Ackerman both dropped 15 points for Slippery Rock, with McDermott sinking four 3-pointers.

Jenna Heitzenrater added 10 rebounds in the loss.

Karns City 62, Johnstown 48 — The Gremlins trailed 32-24 at halftime, but outscored the Trojans 38-16 over the final two quarters in the consolation game of the Indiana Tournament.

Emily Hegedus and Livia Andreassi led the way with 22 and 19 points, respectively.

Central Valley 58, Knoch 38 — The Knights were unable to climb out of an early 13-1 hole at the Montour Classic.

Hannah Rowe and Casey Kretzer both had 11 points in defeat.

A-C Valley 39, Reynolds 23 — The Falcons outscored the Raiders 19-6 in the second half at the West Middlesex Tournament.

A-C Valley senior Ellie Thompson led all scorers with 24 points.

Greenville 44, Grove City 34 — In the championship game of Grove City's Kiser Classic, Abby Biddle led the Eagles with 10 points.

Panama (N.Y.) 57, Moniteau 40 — Emma Bair scored 13 points and blocked five shots and Izzy Bair pulled in 13 rebounds, but the Warriors lost in the consolation game of the Warren County Classic at Warren High School.

Kristin Auvil had 11 points for Moniteau.

Commodore Perry 40, Union 28 — Despite 21 points from Frankee Remmick, the Damsels fell at the Roy Sanner Tournament, held at Rocky Grove High School.

Private Schools

Michaella Roth scored 17 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had seven steals Saturday as First Baptist Christian dropped a 35-29 decision to Jefferson-Morgan.

Alexis Barnhart contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds.
