Carmody's 49 keys Mars win

Mars senior Robby Carmody netted 43 points, including a 15-of-15 effort from the free throw line, in the Planet boys basketball team's 90-46 win over South Park in the championship game of the South Park Tournament on Saturday.

Cade Hetzler scored 15, Andrew Recchia made all eight of his attempts from the free throw line and finished with 13 points and Michael Carmody added 11 points and 11 rebounds for Mars.

Seneca Valley 70, Penn-Trafford 67 — Marcus Might's 2-point bucket with three seconds left in the game helped the Raiders claim this win in the Hempfield Tournament.

SV featured four players scoring in double figures — David Ritchie (20), Chris Hart (14), Gabe Lawson (14) and Might (13).

The Raiders and Warriors were knotted at halftime, 38-38.

Union 45, Moniteau 39 — Lucas Bowser (26 points) and Reice Saylor (11) scored a combined 37 points as the Golden Knights prevailed in the consolation game of the Brookville Tournament.

Jared Lominski scored 10 points to pace Moniteau.

A 16-10 edge in the final quarter lifted Union to the win.

Knoch 43, Armstrong 37 — In the championship game of the Armstrong Tournament, Julian Sanks sparked the Knights with four 3-pointers and a team-leading 14 points. Jared Schrecengost scored 10 points.

Sewickley Academy 70, C.W. North Catholic 42 — For the second straight game, senior forward Mike Drambel led the Trojans in scoring, this time with 16 points in a game played at Peters Township High School.

A-C Valley 55, Saegertown 48 — At the Falcons' own Hoops for Heroes Classic, the hosts received a nice dose of balanced scoring with Jeff Ginn (12 points), Dalton Callander (11) and Russ Carr (11) all reaching double digits in points.

Ginn added eight rebounds and three steals.

The Falcons lost to Purchase Line Friday night, 81-60, with sophomore Eddie Stevanus scoring 18 points and throwing in five rebounds, four steals and four assists.

Brendan Price contributed nine points and six rebounds for A-C Valley.

Purchase Line 79, Karns City 60 — A 48-25 deficit between the second and third quarters was too much for the Gremlins, who were led by Jake Friel's 14 points and eight rebounds.

Chase Beighley tallied 12 points in defeat and Nathan Waltman 11.

Grove City 69, Clarion-Limestone 45 — The Eagles won in the Kiser Classic as Logan Lutz posted a 23-point night.

Brayden Martin added 12 points and Isaac Thrasher 10.

In Friday's 67-49 defeat of Fort LeBoeuf, Thrasher paced the Eagles with a game-high 21 points. Marcos Cintron and Lutz both added 10 points.

South Fayette 49, Freeport 46 — The Yellowjackets fell in the championship game of their own tournament. No other details were available.

Fort LeBoeuf 35, Slippery Rock 20 — Luke Brandon scored eight points for the Rockets at the Kiser Classic.

Private Schools

Ben Drake's 22 points and 12 rebounds ignited First Baptist Christian School to a 67-60 win against Redeemer Lutheran.

Also with a solid game for the Eagles were Aaron Drake (19 points), Derek Butterworth (13 points), Nate Errington (10 points, 10 rebounds) and Ryan Creaturo (15 rebounds).

In Friday's game, Errington scored 13 points and Aaron Drake had 12, but FBCS fell to Aquinas Academy, 42-37.

Creaturo added 13 rebounds and Ben Drake 11 boards in the loss.
