Regarding Rep. Daryl Metcalfe’s statements on HB 722 to end gerrymandering (“More protests harden Metcalfe,” Nov. 21).

Fair Districts PA is a statewide, nonpartisan and totally volunteer organization. All members of our Butler group live and vote in Butler County. Our membership is made up of Pennsylvania citizens who are registered Republicans, Democrats and Independents.

Members of our group have never been arrested while at Metcalfe’s offices or at any event he has hosted. We have held signs and have respectfully visited his offices to ask Metcalfe to advance HB 722 out of the State Government Committee, which he chairs, for a hearing.

We have offered to meet with Metcalfe and or his staff to explain our support of HB 722 and to answer any questions or concerns he or his staff may have about. However, Metcalfe and his staff have repeatedly declined our offers to meet.

While we would like Metcalfe to support HB 722 by joining 97 of his fellow legislators as a co-sponsor, we ask only that he advance HB 722 out of committee.

We ask that Metcalfe stop misrepresenting us as “outsiders” and “paid protesters” when that absolutely is not true. We invite anyone to to visit www.fairdistrictspa.com to learn more about us and to connect with our Butler group.
